Well, Intel replied.

They say that the CPU retention mechanism (that's what the bracket is called) should have been removed before sending the motherboard to them. It was mentioned in their email too, but I neglected it, because the last time I sent them the motherboard with the bracket, it had come back fine. As it had for all of my friends.

So I cannot really blame them.

But the mail says that they are ready to ship it to me, provided I take care of the courier charges. Now, I shall find out what those charges are... And in the meantime also hunt for the bracket locally. Let's hope I find one. And get that god damn non-performing asset working!

That brings it up to three of us. Tech probs just cost me my GCJ t-shirt. Today morning at 6, I was trying to log in to the GCJ arena, and this is what happens.

First, Net connection is down - Sify has done it again. I switch over to my dialup - old reliability.
I connect, and click on the GCJ icon. After about 10 seconds, the comp hangs.
I go - WTF!!!
Restart and return to step 1...

This process repeated 6 times. The last one was a rather half-hearted attempt, since I finally took a look at the clock and saw that it was 6:27 - regs closed at 6:25. Boo hoo...

It works now - 4 hours later...yeesh.

Think I'll mail Google - it's hardly fair that all the practice i put in over the past 3 days should go down the drain for such a dumb reason...Maybe they'll see reason...

Tech rocks....... only if it works.

If its of any help to you, lately, my comp's been rebooting and my net hasn't been working.
